A Music Together class is one that a child can attend from birth through kindergarten.
Mixed-age classes provide a rich learning environment because children of different ages thrive when they interact with each other: the babies are often fascinated by the older child, and the “big” children (3- and 4-year-olds) enjoy helping and sharing with the “little” ones.
A Music Together Babies class will start you on the path to becoming a musical family. Specifically designed for infants eight months and younger, this one-semester introduction to Music Together allows babies to embrace, enjoy and express their inborn musicality.
Classes are fun and everyone gets involved! Children, parents, caregivers, grandparents- this is unlike anything you have ever done before. You’ll learn how your child is developing musically and how you can support this growth at home. Plus, you’ll leave with lots of ideas on how to play and bond musically together and infuse music into your everyday life.
During class we will sing songs, play instruments, move around the room to music all in a relaxed and playful environment. Whilst we encourage all children to participate actively we recognize that each individual participates in his or her own unique way and there will be no pressure to perform.
Parents and caregivers are very important role models during class. You will be moving around the room, playing instruments and singing along. This is not the kind of class where you can sit back and watch!
Even if you think that you are not musical you still contribute greatly to the musical environment of the child you bring to class. Nobody will judge how good your singing is or whether you can keep time. Relax and have fun!
